INIT

Operating in the areas of telematic software and services as well as mobile telematics and electronic payment systems, INIT, with its head office in Karlsruhe, Germany, is the only provider in the world with a product portfolio that covers all public transport requirements. And given that INIT operates in 16 countries, these requirements are highly specific. Founded in 1983 and currently employing over 250 people worldwide, the company has more than doubled its sales in the last seven years to EUR 46.8m. This rapid growth has been accompanied by the establishment of many new sites and foreign subsidiaries, leading to a heterogeneous system landscape with numerous isolated applications, standard programs and in-house developments.  

Challenge
INIT needed a new solution to ensure data integrity, accelerate processes and improve transparency. It was essential that the new IT system could be rolled out internationally and that it would have a short implementation period. In addition to being a flexible and powerful project module, it also had to have a modern programming language and good framework. In the end INIT selected Microsoft Dynamics AX. And in Qurius, they had found a Dynamics partner in close proximity, with extensive experience.

The Qurius consultants largely implemented standard AX functionality and developed an additional ‘directory of services’ module to map the orders from the customer’s viewpoint. This is fully integrated into the project module. Further adjustments were needed for reporting.

Increased efficiency through networking
The system runs on an application server using the Windows Server operating system. The Microsoft SQL Server database has been installed on a second system, to which the COM connector and the intranet server for the SharePoint environment are connected. A CRM and service module was added to the system to improve customer support. Mobile barcode scanners have been linked to the system to optimise stock management; the entire flow of goods is mapped using this solution. The workflows from the warehouse to dispatch and from sales to service are now universally networked and the flow of information has improved significantly.
